Mahjong Collection

So we went to the Antiques by the Bay last Sunday looking for furniture. It was a brisk day and since we didn't get there before 9am (this is a Sunday morning folks), we missed out on a lot of good stuff. We did find some vintage mahjong tiles and decied to start a collection of the 8's of the three suits (8 is considered a lucky number to the Chinese) and the facai (which means, literally "GET RICH!").

Here's an example of the tiles we're looking for, they look really cool in the vase we have them at home!

(L to R – in Mandarin, "ba sou" 8 straws , "ba tong" 8 dots, "ba wan" 80,000, "fa cai" GET RICH!)

A Fiesta!!!

Mike and I got married a couple of weeks ago in PV, Mexico. We then sailed off to our honeymoon in Zihuatanejo which made it all the more difficult to return to reality in SF! (And EVEN more difficult to endure customs in LAX). Thankfully we have plenty of pictures to look at to remember and relive our wedding trip!!!

  • A teaser and slideshow from our wedding photographer, Michelle Turner. Updated 3/6: The slideshow with more of our professional pics! Updated 3/9: Our full gallery is available!!! You can check them out here, the password is our last name.

  • Mrs. Chris McMana m a snuck these in, too, during our formals! A nice preview of the group shots!!!
  • The McCarthys, I mean the McShinos, had some great one's, too…wish I was on the fishing trip to see the tossing of the bait fish.

Stay tuned for more pics from us, friends and family and our professional pictures! If you have more pics to share, please let us know!

Updated 3/5:

More from the Deh and Weh and Richie and Lisa. Thanks, guys! Keep 'em comin'!

Updated 3/6:

  • Erica sent her pictures along on photobucket
  • Tanya has super pics, especially GREAT candids from dancing.

Thanks, Men’s Health!

This is one of the recipe's the M has pulled from his Men's Health Magazines. The salmon was cooked on a cedar board in the oven and the cucumber salad is marinated in rice wine vinegar and red chili flakes. YUM!!! And that's some Quinoa (aka SUPERfood).

Mmm…Fish Tacos

After a day of hanging out at Half Moon Bay, we stopped at a fish market and picked up some fresh sea bass. (Kick his ass, Sea Bass). M's first foray into the world of fish tacos. Survey says? Winner! Topped with some fresh, homemade, mango salsa, avocados and cilantro – it was an excellent summer meal.

Also purchased a few super-sized scallops. TASTY – seared with a little kosher salt and Herbs de Provence.

Nana’s Sauce

Every once in awhile, Mike and I dedicate a Sunday to making his Nana's sauce. We make a huge pot of meat sauce and a smaller post of marinara and we have quick dinners for months!! Here are some pics from the process – too bad I can't embed the wonderful aroma of stewing sauce, too:

Kaboodle

I've been OBSESSED with Kaboodle lately. I like to online window shop – which leads to a lot of impulse buying. We'll see if this is helping with my little retail problem.
